About 50 years ago, the suburd of Fontvieille was nothing more than a very narrow stretch of sand where the rocks plunged into the Mediterranean sea. The Port of Fontvieille is at the foot of Monaco-Ville (Rock of Monaco). It is also one of the most protected ports in the whole region.
